Overcoming depression is  hard, perhaps the hardest thing you will ever do.  Fighting against depression isn’t a stroll in the park; it’s a dogfight.  But if you decide to join the fray, you can win the battle and drive depression from your mind.  If you want to have a mind free from depression, nobody can stop you.

Your emotions are a reflection of your thoughts.  When you change your thoughts, your emotions automatically change.  You don’t have to battle the negative and twisted emotions echoing in your mind.

Instead, you need to learn how to change the way you think, and emotions will naturally take care of themselves.  Like night follows day, when your thoughts are healthy and positive, your emotions become healthy and positive as well.

The challenge you face in depression is to change the way you think.


How do you change the way you think?  Four laws show you how to make it happen.

The Law of Positive Self-Talk states, “You change the way you think and feel by changing what you say when you talk to your mind.”

If you want to change the way you feel, you are going to have to change your inner dialogue.  You are going to have to talk to your mind in a different manner.

First, you must stop saying negative things.  When negative words start to come out of your mouth, you must immediately stop what you are saying.  Zip it up.  Don’t let those negative words come out because they are negative seeds that lead to more negative thoughts and negative emotions.

Second, you must start saying positive things.  That is what positive self-talk is all about.  The positive things you say are the seeds for a positive mind and a positive life.

If you don’t stop saying negative things, and if you don’t start saying positive things, then having a positive mind and a positive life will not happen.  It’s simply impossible to have a positive mind and positive emotions if you are constantly saying negative things. You must stop the negative self-talk and start the positive self-talk if you want to leave the Land of Depression.  There is no other way.

The Law of  Positive Direction states, “The wheel of change always turns in the direction of what you put into your mind.”  You actually push your mind in a positive direction by putting positive and healthy thoughts into your mind.  If you put enough positive thoughts into your mind, you can actually create a positive brain.

You are not helpless, and your life is not hopeless.  Your life instantly improves the moment you start putting good things into your mind.  The simple act of reading these positive words turns the wheel of change in a positive direction, and every paragraph you read makes you into a more positive person.

The Law of Positive Focus states, “A persistently positive focus creates a consistently positive mind.”

The battle against depression is fought on the battlefield of focus.  In order to break the back of depression, you will have to learn how to persistently and consistently control the focus of your mind.

The Law of Positive Change states, ” When you change the things you look at, the way you look at things changes. When you change the things you talk about, the way you talk about things changes. When you change the things you think about, the way you think about things changes.”

It really does matter what you look at, what you talk about, and what you think about, because all of these things change who you are and make you into a different person.  You must look at positive things, talk about positive things, and think about positive things if you want to be free from depression and become a positive person.


Cognitive therapy gives you the power to break the back of depression by eliminating the twisted thinking that creates your distorted emotions.   But getting rid of your cognitive distortions isn’t enough.  You need to go to the next level, a much higher level where there is no limit to how good your life can become.  That next level can only happen if you install a positive operating system into your mind.

Simply getting rid of your negative thoughts does not automatically make you positive.  Getting rid of the negative only gets you half way to where you want to go.  You must install a positive operating system if you want to reach the next level and become a positive person.  It’s not enough to stop being negative.  You need to become a positive person.

You don’t need a PhD in psychology or thousands of hours of therapy to win the battle against depression and to move up to the next level.  But you do need to learn some basic facts.   You also need an uncomplicated strategy that is easy to use.  Finally, you need power.  When you know the facts, have an effective strategy, and real power, the odds shift in your favor, and there is a high probability you will win this battle.  It’s going to be a dogfight, but it’s a fight you can win.

You have a choice.  You can allow negative thinking and depression to rule your life, or you can reestablish command and control over your thoughts and push your mind in a positive direction.

It’s up to you.  If you want to have a mind free from depression, nobody can stop you.
